# SEO Site Audit

> Scan your website for SEO issues, multi-page crawl coverage, Core Web Vitals performance, broken links, and AI citation readiness.

## What the site audit checks

The SEO Site Audit scans your website across 7 categories and returns a score with actionable recommendations. The crawler is intentionally bounded: it checks the homepage, sitemap-discovered URLs, and high-value internal pages without becoming an unbounded site crawler.

### SEO (meta tags, headings, images)

* Title tag length and content
* Meta description length and content
* H1 heading count and quality
* Image alt text coverage
* Open Graph tags for social sharing
* Canonical tag for duplicate content prevention

### Performance (Core Web Vitals)

Data from Google PageSpeed Insights API (mobile):

* **LCP** (Largest Contentful Paint) — how fast the main content loads. Target: under 2.5s.
* **CLS** (Cumulative Layout Shift) — how much the page shifts during load. Target: under 0.1.
* **TTFB** (Time to First Byte) — how fast the server responds. Target: under 800ms.
* **Speed Index** — how quickly visible content appears. Target: under 3.4s.

### Links

* Internal link count (more = better site structure)
* External link count (linking to authoritative sources signals topic authority)
* Broken links (404s that hurt SEO)
* NoFollow link ratio

### Crawl coverage

* Sitemap.xml discovery and sitemap URL count
* Homepage plus important internal pages, capped at 50 pages for predictable scan time
* Page-level title, meta description, H1, word count, and issue summaries
* Internal link coverage for sitemap URLs
* Orphan page candidates that appear in the sitemap but were not linked from the crawled page set

* LocalBusiness JSON-LD when verified local business schema is missing
* FAQPage JSON-LD starting points for review, sales, and gap-analysis questions
* BreadcrumbList JSON-LD for crawlable service/location page hierarchy

### Local SEO

* LocalBusiness schema markup (JSON-LD)
* NAP (Name, Address, Phone) on page

### AI Citation Readiness (AEO)

* FAQ schema markup
* Review/AggregateRating schema
* Structured content with clear headings
* Overall AI citation readiness score

## Scoring

* **SEO Score** (45% of overall): Meta tags, headings, images, links, technical factors
* **AEO Score** (30% of overall): Schema markup, structured content, AI readiness
* **Performance Score** (25% of overall): Core Web Vitals from PageSpeed Insights
* **Overall Score**: Weighted combination of all three

Results are cached for 24 hours per URL unless you force a refresh.
